I thought that Siddhartha was a very interesting novel. I think that it was crazy for Siddhartha to leave his home searching for something new. I know that I would never do this that is why I find it to be bothersome. I know some people who have left home as Siddhartha did. It seemed to me that they were always searching for something new to please them and make them happy. Once they found something to make them happy it only lasted for a short time, and then they were searching fro something new once again. I think that this is such a waste of time. I feel that we need to stick with one thing, such as religion in Siddhartha’s case, instead of always searching. If we stick to one thing, then as we learn more and more about it, it will continue to keep us happy. Also, if we truly believe and have a strong firm testimony, then we will not doubt that it is wrong, and this will keep us from searching for something new.
I think that from reading Siddhartha we can realize how continuously searching usually proves to be useful. It will not always make us happy.

President James E. Faust, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints tells us that if we get everything that we want, we will not be happy. Owning everything in the world will not bring us happiness. He continues on to say that instant gratification of our desires is the shortest route to unhappiness. Happiness and happiness depends on us.
The Prophet Joseph Smith told us, “Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God.”
We need to find happiness by keeping the commandments of God, and following His plan for us. This is what will make us the most happy.
